Obituary of Wilson Scott MacPhail

August 16, 1957 – North York, Ontario

March 11, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Wilson MacPhail, Scotty”, a beloved father, grandfather, dedicated ironworker, cherished son, brother, and friend.

Scott was a loving father devoted to his sons, Scotty, Riley, and Justin. He was also a proud grandfather to Izaak, Ava, Ivy, and Kylie. As we reflect on the life of Scott, we celebrate the web of family ties that shaped his life.

In addition to being a caring family man and dedicated ironworker, Scott was a beloved son of Betty MacQuarrie and Scott MacPhail. He grew up in a bustling household of love and support alongside his brothers, Jimmy (Michelle), Hector (Diane), Paul (Kim), Timmy, and Kerry Wilson (Debbie); and sister Heather (Mark). The loving partners of his siblings played an integral role in Scott’s life, adding to the mosaic of love and support that defined him.

Scott’s roots of love and connection trace back to his great-grandparents, Jack and Laura MacPhail, who left a legacy of kindness, compassion, hard work, and family values that were passed down through the generations. Their spirit of resilience, unity, and care were carried forward by Scott and enriched the lives of all who knew him. The bond he shared with his family was a source of strength and joy throughout his life.

His memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who were fortunate enough to share his journey. May Scott rest easy, surrounded by the love and memories of his loyal family; knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he held dear.

I gotta go.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Scott’s family here.
