Obituary of Clarissa Lim

November 29, 1928 - Kuching, Malaysia

April 19, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Clarissa Lim, beloved wife of the late Boon Ghim Cheah, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 95 years.

Clarissa was born in Kuching, Malaysia, on November 29, 1928. In 1960, she embraced a new chapter in Penang, Malaysia, before embarking on a journey that led her to Canada in 1990.

She married Boon Ghim Cheah in 1949, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey filled with love, companionship, and shared faith.

Her life was adorned with the joy of music, particularly through her mastery of the accordion, which she impressively learned by her own ear. Her passion extended beyond music, as she also selflessly shared her time through volunteer work within her local church and their many activities.

Clarissa kept to her faith throughout her life, finding solace and inspiration in the timeless verses, with her favourite being from the Book of Psalms:

Psalm 23: A Psalm of David

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want

He makes me lie down in green pastures

He leads me beside the still waters

He restores my soul

He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake

Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

I will fear no evil for You are with me

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies

You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”

Her legacy of love and service will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and community.
