The family sadly announces the passing of Harry Zimmerman on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the age of 88 years.

Harry Zimmerman, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on April 21, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Harry was born in Vernon on July, 29 1929 and was raised in Oliver and Osoyoos. Harry ventured to Calgary in 1949, where he met his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Emma Victoria Hergert. Harry began his apprenticeship with the plumber and pipefitting industry in 1951. Harry quickly excelled into leadership roles within the company. Harry was with Comstock International for thirty-one years. Harry was forced into an early retirement in 1988 after a major heart attack and prostate cancer soon after. Harry was an exceptional handyman with a wealth of knowledge in all fields. He always lent a hand with any person or any issue that arose.

Harry was first and foremost a family man. Harry was always dedicated to his Church. He served on many church councils and was involved with the Sandstone Valley Ecumenical Centre where he was the impetus to move the project forward.

Harry loved his wife, kids and grandkids and was thrilled to be a great-grandfather. He loved his home and yard. He was an avid gardener with a true passion and a very green thumb.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Emma Victoria (Hergert) of sixty-seven years; his daughter Lori (Darryl) Anderson; His son, Larry (Lynn) Zimmerman; three grandchildren, Lyndsay (Kyle) Phillips, Chris (Kim) Anderson, and Jamie (Mark) Brunelle; five great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Carter, Liam, Logan, Robyn, a new baby boy on the way; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Harry was very loved and well respected by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB [1]) on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

I had the pleasure to work with Harry at the Sandstone Valley Ecumenical Centre many years ago. He was worthy of great respect and I enjoyed having coffee and a chat with him.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his family.
