ZENTNER, Ronald Conrad

May 4, 1934 – Romance, Saskatchewan
October 10, 2018 – Okotoks, Alberta

The end of an era passed with the death of Ronald Conrad Zentner, the last of his family. His strong faith brought him comfort as he aged and his beliefs guided his passing.

Ron was born into the wonderful Zentner family that consisted of four boys, Ed, Laurie and Dennis and one girl Audrey. Ron will have a large, loving and fun family waiting for him at the pearly gates to resume the good-natured ribbing, games of Smear and a few shots of Canadian rye with Barney’s Chicken.

Ron married Veronica in 1956 and they and their three girls lived in Calgary and Red Deer while Ron worked in the oil and gas sector. After Veronica’s passing, Ron married a treasured family friend Joyce. Not only was he gifted with a lovely partner, but three additional daughters and their families. We are grateful for Joyce’s love and care for our father over all these years.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Joyce, along with her girls and their families; Doug and Lorrie Crowe (Matt Brosh, Chelsea and Fredrik Ree, Taylor and Mack Crowe), Marilyn (predeceased) and Emil Cseh (Jeremy and Jaden), Glenn and Michelle Hunt (Joshua).

Ron was predeceased by his devoted wife Veronica in 1988 but is survived by his daughters and their families; Larry and Debbie Ponich (Katrina and Dusan Jurisic, Brett) Les and Pam Sept ( Derek and Danielle) Darren and Gail Cherwaty (Ryan and Nathan).

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through

In respect for the kind, compassionate care Ron received at the Foothills Country Hospice Society the family would be honored if donations could be made so that others could benefit from this wonderful end-of-life care. Please send donations to Foothills Country Hospice Society Box 274, Okotoks, Alberta T1S 1A5. Charitable Registration # 861441053 RR0001.

  5. Christyann (Swires) Darwent :

Although I am not able to be with you to celebrate Uncle Ron’s life, my godfather will remain close to my heart. I’d like to think Audrey is up there somewhere waiting to hear Ron tease her about that hard as rock pie she made when she was eight. Keep those brothers of yours in line, Mom! Uncle Ron, you will be missed.
