WOODWARD, Wayne Donald

June 11, 1966 – Calgary, Alberta
April 11, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Wayne Donald Woodward, beloved husband of Jennifer Woodward (nee Nastasi), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the age of 52 years.

Born in Calgary and later moving to Kelowna BC, Wayne returned to the University of Calgary where he met Jennifer and married in 1995. Shortly after, his greatest gifts, Taylor and Dylan, were born.

Wayne was a successful businessman and e-commerce specialist. He was very proud of being able to retire at a young age and start his own business, WW Web Ventures Inc.

His passion for sports and physical activity defined who he was. He was an active member of the Country Hills Golf Course. His dedication to the Miami Dolphins and New York Islanders brought him much joy, as well as frustration and pain. He was happiest when on the golf course with his many friends, cycling the highways of Alberta and BC and making memories with his family in Kelowna.

Wayne accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of completing the Grand Fondo Cycling Race in Kelowna in 2011 and various other triathlons.

He will be most remembered for never being afraid to live every day to the fullest, providing for his family and instilling the values of hard work, independence and confidence in his children.

His two children, Taylor and Dylan, were his greatest joy. They were his “besties.” Whether he was watching his beautiful daughter dance, or his amazing son excel on the soccer and football field, nothing made him happier. His children will forever excel because of the lessons he has taught and the values he has instilled.

His quick wit and sarcastic humour endeared him to everyone he met. He never judged anyone and accepted each individual for who they were.

He will be eternally loved and remembered by his wife of twenty-four years, Jennifer, and his children, Taylor (19), and Dylan (15). He is survived by his father Donald; brother, Doug and Doug’s children, Samantha, Ryan and Landry; niece Denae Woodward; mother-in-law Dina Nastasi; and sister-in-law, Lori (Cory) Filipuzzi and their daughters, Olivia and Sydney, whom he had a special and close relationship with. He will also be greatly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne was predeceased by his mother Caron Woodward and father-in-law Buster Nastasi.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB [1]), on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

If friends so desire in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd. N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 2P5 Telephone: (403) 205-3966, email donorservices@cancer.ab.ca [2]. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family also wishes to thank the Staff of Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital and the staff and members of Orange Theory Creekside.

In living memory of Wayne Woodward, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

Very sorry to hear today of your loss.
I had the pleasure of playing a bit golf at CHGC with Wayne when I had the summer off a few years ago. I got into the habit of checking the tee sheet to see if he was playing and if there was a spot open. Such a genuinely good guy it was time well spent.
Our family’s thoughts and sympathy are with you during such a tough time.
