WOLFE, Ronald (Ron) Frederick

May 23, 1933 – Foremost, Alberta
September 19, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald (Ron) Frederick Wolfe announce his passing on September 19, 2018 at the young age of 85 years. Ron fought a valiant battle with Melanoma; he was surrounded by his devoted family throughout this fifty day journey. We would like to offer our deep thanks to the Palliative Care Unit #47 at Foothills Medical Centre. This unit provided exceptional, loving care.

During his career, Ron was employed by Superior Propane as the divisional manager for Western Canada; retiring in 1988 after thirty years of service. At the age of 55, Ron started his own company: Wolfe Signs, which he truly enjoyed working at until the day before he fell ill. Ron loved to fish, volunteer at Spruce Meadows, and spend time with his family. Nothing brought him more joy than having the family over for a barbecue dinner. He will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Doris Wolfe (nee Karl); four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Chris, Rawn and Rene, Rick and Chris, and Blair and Maria; three daughters and two sons-in-law Tammy and Dave, Tracey, and Shannon and Dennis; seventeen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the All Saints Lutheran Church (380 Midpark Boulevard S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Carpooling recommended. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca. or to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society, 5000 – 11 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2Y5, Telephone: (403) 253-2059, www.calgaryfoodbank.com.

In living memory of Ron Wolfe, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

Condolence Messages

  1. My heart is saddened to know that I will never again pull into my parents driveway and see Ron waving hello to me. I don’t remember a time when the Wolfe’s were not my neighbors. They are a part of my childhood, my adulthood and my family. My children called him “Papa Ron”. You will be deeply missed. We love you

  18. To Doris and the rest of Ron’s family. My heart breaks for you and I send my most sincerest condolences to you all. I knew Ron from my time working at East West Plastic and looked forward to his visits. “Captain Ron” was my rock when Andy got sick and I needed a shoulder and a person to vent to. He will forever hold a place in my heart and be somebody that I think of in only the fondest of ways.

My condolences to the Wolfe Family. Ron was always a bright spot both during my time working at Spruce Meadows and anytime I have been there since leaving, he was always one of the people I sought out to say hello too.

  22. What a lovely service today for a lovely man. This neighbourhood should be renamed Wolfe Ridge. Ron and Doris are the the best neighbours anyone could ask for. They tolerated years of basketballs bouncing in the alley, offered Shannon to babysit and teach them piano! If you even mentioned a tool or a part Ron would have it in his garage or he would go buy one and lend it to you. Thank you for sharing your amazing family with us. He loved to come over for happy hour or a chunk of garlic sausage over the bonfire. His last bonfire was at our house on the Saturday before he fell ill. Truly cherished memories he has left with us. You were an ABSOLUT treasure. ((((((( ))))))’)
