February 8, 1947 – Calgary, Alberta
September 2, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Al died on Monday, September 2, 2019 and his spirit returned to the earth and his presence surrounds us.
Al was an entrepreneur who had a high ethical standard from which he never wavered. Whether as owner of three A&A Record stores, or his 20+ years operating his very successful Calton Cases of Canada business, he was known for his honesty and integrity in business. He maintained friendships with his former employees and customers right to the end. Following his business pursuits, he took on a position as a Theatre Technician at Mount Royal University, a job he loved and which used his long held skills as a musician and audio tech. His ability to relate to his clients – young and old, amateur and professional, made him a very valuable asset to the university. As one of the principals of Creosote Sound, he provided sound at local clubs and events and the Calgary and Canmore Folk Festivals. Al lived his life with few regrets. He was an intelligent, open minded, humble man with a great sense of humour, a positive outlook, a quick wit and his own unique perspective on life. He approached many situations with humour but also deep respect. He was curious about the world and people and had a genuine interest to learn about a person’s family, interests and opinions. He was a great pal to children and had a natural playfulness. People and music invigorated him.
Al is forever in the hearts of his beloved partner Inese Clark, his daughter and son-in-law, Angie Clark, Doug Callow and his cherished grandson, Jack Callow; his brothers and sister, Barry (Leah) Williams, Barb Imler and Russ Williams. Also remembering him with joy and love are Sarah Huemmert and Don Stewart, Diane and Bob Brayman; and his nephews and families from both his and Inese’s family. He was predeceased by his parents, Violet and Myron Williams; and his sister Linda Williams.
At Al’s request, no funeral service will be held. There will be a gathering for family and friends at a future date with further details provided. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
