WILDE, Barry Garth

October 3, 1947 – Natal, British Columbia
November 18, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Wilde of Calgary on November 18, 2018 at the age of 71 years.

Barry is survived by his daughter Tanya Brigden (Todd); grandson Kyrin and granddaughter Ellyana. He is also survived by his siblings Harold Beurling (Jennifer), Rosemary Perry (Joe), Susan Bont (Art), Robert Purcha; sister-in-law Linda Wilde; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Arnold Wilde, mother Clarice and brother Brian.

Barry grew up in Eaglesham, Alberta until he came to Calgary to start his career at Alpha Dairy in 1965. Through the years, he went on to work for Old Dutch and Greyhound Bus lines. Barry found his true calling when he started selling homes as a New Home Salesperson and Realtor. He became a Partner at Cedarglen Homes and had a very successful career with them until he retired. He was determined to succeed in all that he did and took great pride in his work, both professionally and personally. He always liked to have everything stay shiny and new. He would help anybody in need without question. Barry rarely let anyone pay for anything and was a true gentleman. He was extremely close with his Daughter Tanya as well as his siblings. Barry loved keeping busy and enjoyed being outdoors gardening. He enjoyed the time he spent in Arizona as well as going to sporting events and car shows, watching movies and had a love for all animals.

Barry was a kind and selfless man who always had a zest for life even when his health started to decline. Barry struggled with MSA a neurological disease, for the past 5 years that affected his mobility and speech. Through it all he was extremely brave and showed tremendous strength and determination. He always remained positive and made the best out of each day. He continued to take great pride in his appearance and would still wear dress shoes everyday even when he was unable to walk anymore and was confined to a wheelchair. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and especially his grandchildren Kyrin and Ellyana. He loved to spoil them immensely, especially after swimming at the Auburn Heights pool with all the cookies and ice cream they could eat. It always put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes to be around them. His legacy will live on through them and his daughter Tanya.

At Barry’s request, he did not want a funeral or Memorial service. His family will be hosting a social gathering and celebration of his life on Saturday, November 24, 2018 2:00pm-3:30pm at The Auburn Heights Retirement Residence, 21 Auburn Bay Street SE, Calgary. Everyone is welcome who wishes to celebrate in the memory of Barry. He was loved dearly by many and will be missed beyond words. May he now be in the loving arms of the Lord. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the First Alliance Church at Condolences may be forwarded through

Sad to hear of your father’s passing and that he had not been well for 5 years. I worked with Barry at Alpha Milk in the early 70s. What a great guy he was. Hard worker and a fun guy to work with. Always a smile on his face. We lost touch but I contacted him in the early 90’s when I saw his picture in the paper as a top realtor. We had a nice lunch and he told me he had a daughter and it was obvious he was very proud of you.
