WARKE, James (Jim) Kenneth

June 28, 1936 – High River, Alberta
October 12, 2018 – Strathmore, Alberta

James Kenneth Warke passed away on October 12, 2018, at the age of 82 years.

Gail has sweet memories of her loving partner Jim. When they lived on Scotland Street in Calgary, they used to plant sweet peas along the fence line on their property. It took fifty packages to do it all. Through the season they would let people cut bouquets whenever they wanted, Gail would provide the scissors. They received many letters from strangers thanking them for brightening their day with the colourful flowers. They were known in the area as the “sweet pea couple.”

He will be greatly missed by his wife of twenty-six years Gail Warke. Jim is also survived by his son Robert Warke, wife Chantal, and granddaughter Sarah Anne. Gail’s children Deborah, Timothy, and Jim’s extended family members will remember him.

There will be no funeral service held. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Alzheimer Society of Calgary, 800, 7015 Macleod Trail S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2K6, Telephone: (403)290-0110,

  3. Dear Gail,

Though I only met Jim once when you and he visited Timothy in Vancouver, I remember him as a gentle quiet man with a pleasant sense of humour, who was clearly dedicated to you.

To have been loved by such a good person for so long will give you a great store of warm memories to cherish in the years ahead.

Every good wish to you and your family at this difficult time, though certainly it is a time to celebrate a life well lived.
