WANG, Emmie Ching Wah

December 23, 1936 – Guangzhou, China
January 23, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Emmie Ching Wah Wang of Calgary, AB, went to be with her precious Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

Emmie was born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. She attended National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan where she studied Law. She married James Ching Min Wang on November 2, 1963. She worked for the Hong Kong government before immigrating to Saskatoon, Sask. in 1968. She dedicated her time to raising her four children, and served in various ministries at the Saskatoon Chinese Alliance Church. The Overseas University Student Ministry was particularly dear to her heart. She loved to cook for her family and friends and tended her beautiful garden. She moved to Calgary in July 2002 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Calgary Chinese Alliance Church became her new home church where she immersed herself in the Mandarin Ministries. She loved this special community, who considered her to be their “Mom”. Emmie was devoted to her family and to the God she served. Many have been touched by her love, wisdom, hospitality and her warm smile.

Emmie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, James Ching Min Wang and her four beloved children: Peggy (Tim) Mah, Andrew (Wendy) Wang, Kathy (Gary) Tom and Clara Wang. She has six cherished grandchildren: Matthew Wang, Russell & Lauren Tom and Nicolle, Tyler & Dylan Mah. She is also survived by her younger sisters, May Tong of San Francisco and Ellen (John) Lee of Hong Kong and her younger brothers, Ming Fan (Nancy) Tong and Joseph (Grace) Tong, both of San Francisco. She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Emmie was predeceased by her parents, John Chai On Tong and Wai Chun Tong and her older brothers, Wai Kong Tong and Yick Kwun Tong.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and condolences during this difficult time.

Emmie’s life will be celebrated by her family and friends at Calgary Chinese Alliance Church (150 Beddington Boulevard N.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at Buffet Yangtze located at 901 64th Avenue NE, Calgary.     Glory to God in the highest. Your maid servant Emmie Ching Wah Wang successfully completed her assignment as your follower and disciple in spreading your good news, evangelizing, hosting and caring for your peoples in the Chinese Alliances Churches in Saskatoon and Calgary, Canada. 
    She practiced your teaching in Ephesus to honor and respect her husband, Dr C. M. Wang from Hong Kong to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and to Calgary. She loved and cared for her friends, family and Childrens according to your teaching in the Gospel. She lead a Christian life and to provide a model Christian home to glorify God.
    As Our Lord Jesus Christ set an teaches us, to lead us , to love, to care and to sacrifice for us, so did Emmie who taught her children, lead the family, loved and cared for friends and strangers in church and neighborhood. She sacrificed her career and comfort in Hong Kong to spread the good news of God in Saskatoon and Calgary. She did her very best and did it well. She worths earning a place to glorify God in Heaven to be with God among Peter, Paul and the disciples. Amen.
    May we remember Emmie Ching Wah Wang and celebrate her new live in Heaven. Amen.

  5. Eulogy to Emmeee Ching Wag Wang. I have known Enmie for over 60 years, she is a long time friend of my family. She is a very caring, friendly, helpful, kind and sweet person.
