WAN, Shun Tat

February 2, 1950 – Guangdong, China
December 12, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Shun Tat Wan, beloved husband of Susan Wan of Calgary, AB, passed away on December 12, 2018 at the age of 68 years.

Shun was a restaurant owner for the majority of his life. He had an amazing passion for food and was a Chef by vocation. Shun loved being able to create, being able to serve others, and bring about community through his work.

Shun had many interests and hobbies, finding interest and beauty in the simplest things. When he wasn’t traveling, going on long road trips and fishing along the Alberta and BC landscape, you would find him intently watching a Flames game, cooking for others, or playing Mahjong.

Shun lived a long and full life, treating everyone with kindness and respect. He was well respected and loved by everyone who came to know him.

Besides his loving wife, Susan, Shun is survived by his children, Irene and Jonathan Scott (Airdrie), Daniel and Josephine Wan (Calgary), David and Cecilia Wan (Calgary), Ronald and Laiian Wan (Calgary); grandchildren, Mia Scott (Airdrie), Emma Scott (Airdrie), Rachel Wan (Calgary); siblings and siblings-in-law, Sammie and Wilson Mark (Calgary), Shun Kwai Wan and Lai Chu Wong (Hong Kong), Bonnie and Frankie Sy (Hong Kong); Christine Wan and Lawrence Thien (Malaysia), Shirley Wan and Tim Chan (Calgary), Dorothy Wan (Calgary), and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

There are so many family and friends we are thankful for, for their kindness and support they’ve shown in so many ways in these difficult times. We’d like to thank especially the Cardiac Transplant team for taking such incredible care of our Dad for over twenty years. Finally, our greatest gratitude is to the anonymous donor who blessed our dad with a new heart, and the opportunity to see his family grow and meet his grandchildren.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1
Until we meet again Dad.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North Calgary, AB) on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
