WALKER, Heather Joy (nee Thomson)

August 13, 1953 – Edmonton, Alberta
December 16, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

O God, grant me your sense of timing to submit gracefully.

With sad hearts filled with wonderful memories, the family of Heather Walker announce that she passed peacefully at home on Sunday, December 16, 2018 with her husband by her side.

Heather was born in Edmonton on August 13, 1953 to Nora and Robert Thomson. She grew up in Edmonton and graduated from Ross Sheppard High School in the class of 1970. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta and spent more than 43 years serving the community as a pharmacist, most recently at Cambrian Drugs in Calgary.

For the last two decades, she was an active member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, serving in several volunteer and leadership roles. Heather was an avid reader, traveller, and skier. She is fondly remembered for having a great sense of humour and being a loving friend and grandmother.

Heather is survived by Jack, her devoted husband of 43 years and two children of whom she was so very proud: Robert (Jennifer) and Kimberly (Jeff). Her four grandchildren, Grace, Roberta, Abigail and William brought her much joy, love, and laughter and she loved adventuring with them from ski trips and sleepovers to baking and crafting. Heather is also survived by her sister Maureen (Larry) and her brother Daniel (Ethel).

Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Calgary Golf & Country Club. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the ALS Clinic and the ALS Society for the support and care provided. Heather also requested in lieu of flowers, that any donations in her memory be sent to the ALS Society of Alberta, 7874 10th Street NE, Calgary, Alberta or online: https://www.alsab.ca/.

In living memory of Heather Walker, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W., CALGARY, AB, T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
