WAGNER, Kurt Richard

February 17, 1961 – Chicago, Illinois
November 8, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Kurt Wagner, beloved husband of Debbie Wagner passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 57.

Kurt was born in Chicago IL on February 17, 1961. His family moved to Miami Florida in 1967 where the whole family was involved in competitive swimming. In 1976 the family moved to Santa Cruz CA and Kurt completed high school there. Kurt had many jobs but his definite favorite was Wildland Fire Fighting with (CDF) California Division of Forestry which he did for several seasons. Kurt also became a travel agent.

Kurt moved to Calgary in 1990 and his 3 children came to live with him in 1997. Kurt and Debbie met in 1999 and got married in 2000. Kurt’s eldest 2 children lived with Kurt and Debbie until they graduated high school. Kaila Wagner joined the family in 2001. Kurt was very active in his church and Calgary Cursillo Community. In 2014 he started work with RockyView County in Infrastructure and Operations; he loved that job and the people he worked with. Anyone who knew Kurt couldn’t help but love him. He will be sadly missed by many.

Kurt is survived by his wife Debbie Wagner of Airdrie AB; and his children Jason Wagner (Kierstin) of San Antonio TX, Korilyn Patterson (Jesse) of Mulvane KS, Steven Wagner of Wichita KS and Kaila Wagner of Airdrie, AB; his mother Shirlee Stewart of Atlanta GA; his brother Eric Wagner (Agnes) of Long Beach CA; his sister Katrina Bestwick (Stephen) of North Kingstown RI; and his sister Kristen Coleman of Atlanta GA. He is also survived by three nieces, four nephews; and ten grandchildren. Kurt was predeceased by his father Bernard Wagner of Merced CA in1989.

A Celebration of Kurt’s Life will be held at Eastside City Church (1320 Abbeydale Drive SE Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the foyer.
