VAIDYA, Mohan

January 25, 1944 – Jaleswar, Nepal
November 25, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Mohan Vaidya, husband of Anna, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

Mohan worked as a Chemist at Western Fertilizer Cooperative, and then Agrium Inc. at the Carseland Nitrogen Operations. He enjoyed playing badminton where he was a coach, mentor, and organized drop-in sessions for the City of Calgary, for many years. Mohan was the first Nepali pioneer in Calgary, where he and Anna started the Nepalese Canadian Association. That organization has flourished to now become two associations (the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary and the Calgary Nepalese Community Association).

All of his grandchildren will greatly miss playing with their Dedo (‘Grandfather’ in Czech).

Mohan is survived by his wife of 48 years; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Scott Loree and their children Myles and Isabel, his son Michael and daughter-in-law Enza and their children Kayla and Matteo, and multiple extended family members in Nepal.

A private ceremony was held in Calgary, and a traditional service will be organized in his home country, to celebrate his life. In memory of Mohan, please consider making a contribution to your favourite charity. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Mohan Vaidya, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th STREET S.E., Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.

Condolence Messages

  1. It was a shock to hear that Mohan is no longer with us. I first met Mohan 37 years ago when we both worked at Western Coop Fertilizers and despite leaving the company in 1987, our paths have crossed many times since. I always enjoyed his company and will remember him as a sincere, gentle and friendly man. It has been my privilege to have called Mohan a friend.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your great loss.
