UTTLEY, John (Jack)
February 7, 1924 – New Liskeard, Ontario
November 30, 2016 – Blairmore, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Uttley; father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John slipped away, peacefully and gently in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 92 years.

John was born in New Liskeard, Ontario, the third of six children; five boys and one girl. Though he grew up in the small town, he spent most of his time outside of town “in the bush.” His love for forests and trails never diminished and lent to many family adventures in the great outdoors. John was a decorated Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas bravely and proudly for Canada. Serving came as second nature to him and he continued throughout his life to provide help for anyone who needed it – always asking what else he could do and inquiring if everyone was okay, especially his family.

Left with warm memories to cherish will be his daughters and son-in-law, Maureen Fedoruk, Cathy and Kevin Ward; granddaughters, Erin Fedoruk (Brian), Kelly (Cory) Reissig, Sarah Ward, and Sheena VanLiere (Brad); great-grandchildren, James, Cameron, Rileigh, Robert, Ryder, Mathis, Keira, Derik and Tristan. He will also be missed by his only surviving brother, Arthur Uttley; sisters-in-law Helene and Margaret MacCalder; brother-in-law Morley (Erica) MacCalder; and numerous nieces and nephews

John was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Mary. It warms our hearts to know that Dad and Mom are at last reunited.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and staff of Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care and Crowsnest Pass Health Centre. Your heartfelt care to John and the family will never be forgotten.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in John’s honour directly to The Canadian Legacy Project, #210, 1235 – 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2T 0C2, http://www.canadianlegacy.org/donate/ or The Royal Canadian Legion, Dominian Command – 86 Aird Place, Ottawa, ON, K2L 0A1, or the charity of donor’s choice.

In living memory of John Uttley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

Uncle Jack was a huge part of my life and will be greatly missed. I take comfort that he is with Aunt Mary, my Mom(his little sister) and his parents and family that went so long ago. I know I will one day see him again. The world was a bettern place because he was in it. He loved so deeply and helped so many.

Condolence from Dennis Uttley on December 3rd, 2016 1:24 PM

Uncle Jack was the most kind and caring man I have ever met, over the years we kept in touch by phone or mail and on those special times when he would come back to his home town we would spend time talking about his childhood and his best friends he had here, we also talked about our family history which he was very proud of. He had a full and wonderful life his loss will be felt by so many. I am so proud to be his nephew I know someday when I step out from the dark and into the light he will be there to greet me. Susan and I will miss you dearly Uncle our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Jack was a wonderful brother. We were always separated by distance and I will always regret not being able to know him in recent times.
I will miss him.

Condolence from Malcolm & LaVette Uttley on December 7th, 2016 8:03 PM

Uncle Jack was a very kind and caring man, one of our best friends and held a very special place in our hearts. He always took the time to stop by our home to visit with our family. Someone that we strongly looked up too. We will miss our talks and your stories about how you and Aunt Mary met. November 30th, being my birthday, it will be a day that we are forever together. It’s with a heavy heart to say goodbye, yet a day to celebrate your life. We will keep our fond memories of you and Aunt Mary close to our hearts forever. With the Lord willing, we will all meet together once again in that special place. You will be profoundly missed. RIP Uncle Jack
