TURLEY, Grace Jean (nee Simpson)

May 1, 1915 – Ochre River, Manitoba
November 6, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

We regret to announce that Grace Jean Turley has passed away at the age of 102.

Grace was born in Ochre River, a small town in Manitoba. She lived in various towns in the prairies since Percy, her father, was moved around by the CNR. She ended up in Vancouver where she married Lou in 1940. After the war, the family lived in Brandon, MB and then later moved to Calgary where she worked in the food industry owning and operating The Roof Coffee Shop and the concession at the Calgary Zoo. She found her niche in the Real Estate business forming her own company Regent Realty Ltd in 1967. Grace had great success in this field and was also able to enjoy her favorite pastimes of curling, golf and bridge.

Grace is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Mary; daughter Cheryl; grandchildren Sean and Nicola, Erin and Marcin. She was predeceased by her husband Lou, brothers Ken Simpson and Ted Simpson and her sister Lillian Goulebef.

By her request Grace will be cremated and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through

  2. Grace was an amazing woman! I met her through curling many years ago. We had a special bond. We always made a point of chatting, no matter where we were. She was my biggest ‘cheerleader’. Love her and will definitely miss her.
