TROY, Margaret Isabel

October 9, 1930 – August 7, 2018

Margaret passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 87 years. The good Lord has called his Angel home.

Margaret was born in Croxdale, England. She was the only child of John and Anne Kelly but lost her mother at the age of three, and was raised by her father, her aunt and her grandmother. At a young age, Margaret attended a boarding school run by Catholic nuns, and then earned her Nursing degree. Margaret met Marian Tuszewski, her future husband, in a hospital where they worked together. In 1953, Margaret married Dr. Tuszewski. She and her husband left England and journeyed to Newfoundland, Canada to work in the St. John’s hospital in 1954. In 1956 she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where her first son was born. In 1958 she returned to Windsor Canada, where her first daughter was born. In 1960 Margaret moved her family to Calgary where her second son was born in 1962 and her second daughter was born in 1966. She lived in Calgary the rest of her life. During the 1970’s, she opened a small gift shop named Love ‘n Care near the General Hospital. During this time, she changed her surname to Troy, aided her extended Polish family to flee an oppressive regime and united her English relatives. During the next thirty years, she loved to travel to Europe, India and the Middle East, grew the most beautiful garden, cared for her dogs, lovingly helped raise her grandchildren and provided care for her husband.

Margaret was a devoted wife and loving mother. She nurtured her family as she grew her garden. Her hands were never still. Margaret served her community well. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish. She was a member of the Canadian Catholic Women’s league, delivered many Meals on Wheels, attended the Canadian Women’s Club of Calgary, and was the President, Past President and a Member of the Calgary Rose Society for many years.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Marian Tuszewski Troy. Margaret is survived by her children, Paul (Maxine), Katherine (Rick), Christopher and Caroline (Doug) and her seven grandchildren Rachel, Luke, Michelle, Madeleine, Aaron, Sean and Jasper.
