TORCHIA, Stella Alice

November 7, 1924 – Round Hill, Alberta
November 30, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Our much loved mom, grandma, and great-grandma Stella Torchia passed away after a brief illness on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the age of 94 years.

Stella was the last survivor from a family of eight brothers and one sister. She was a great cook and enjoyed fun times with family and friends. Her mind was sharp before she passed away and she lived independently until this past summer.

At mom’s request there will be no service and she will be laid to rest beside our dad in Edmonton at a later date. The family gratefully declines flowers. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to thank the Chinook Hospice for their loving care of their mother during such a difficult time.

In living memory of Stella Torchia, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

Our sweet Baba. We will miss you so much. You always made us laugh & we loved spending time with you. Chatting on the phone was so nice since we lived so far apart. Thank you to Aunt Rachel for taking care of Baba all of these years and helping her maintain her independence. My fondest memories are playing records in her basement in her Edmonton home and dancing and singing along, especially to Feliz Navidad. Watching you make your famous cabbage rolls when you were visiting in Ontario was so nice. We also enjoyed your candy dishes that were always full!! You were always concerned with looking cute and having your blonde hair 🙂
