Julie Tobias (nee Trott) born January 16, 1926 in Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully on Friday October 19th at Royal Oak Manor, Lacombe, Alberta at the age of 92.

Julie is the youngest and only daughter of Edna and Alfred Trott (deceased): sister of Edison, predeceased by brothers Jack, Bill, Harry, Doug, and Frankie and granddaughter Jennie. Julie is mother to Jim Tobias (Betty) and Bruce Tobias (Rose) of Calgary, Kimberley Barrett (Gary) and Chris Tobias (Brenda) of Lacombe and grandchildren Kirsten (Mike), Sean, Jeff, Allison, Jessie (Cathy), Emilie (Stuart), Lauren, step-children Garry Lee (Lyndsay), Christopher (Janna) and step-great-grandchildren Nicholas, Thomas, Hailey, Camren, and Alyvia. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Julie attended Stansted College in Quebec and graduated with a secretarial diploma. She went on to work for Eaton’s and Birks in Winnipeg and Montreal. She met the love of her life, William (Bill), in Winnipeg in 1946, marrying in Montreal in 1951. Beloved wife of 57 years, predeceased by Bill who, while he worked for CIL, they relocated together to Kingston, Montreal, Parry Sound, Labrador City and settling in Calgary for over 50 years. Julie was known for her love of children demonstrated by running a day home, lunch programs for the elementary school, working in the daycare at Mount Royal College and cuddling her grandchildren and infants whenever she had the opportunity.

Julie volunteered with the 18th Scout Troup Women’s Auxiliary for over 30 years, loved no matter where she went with her happy and fun-loving personality, with a smile, a laugh and over the past 5 years a yippee or woof woof.

An Open House to celebrate our memories will be held at 18th Scout Hall (1919 19th Street S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

The family wishes to thank Royal Oak Manor and Chartwell Colonel Belcher staff who made it home to Julie in her final years.

  4. Kim, I met your mom at Infant Resources. We loved to watch how her face lit up whenever a new baby came into our care. She just loved those little ones. No baby ever cried for long if Julie was around. Anita, Carol & myself really enjoyed those times we spent with your mom.
