TATRO, Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Beeching)

August 27, 1930 – St. Walberg, Saskatchewan
November 18, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Dorothy Tatro, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the age of 88 years at Agape Hospice.

Dorothy was born to William Edward and Maria Beeching on August 27, 1930. She met and fell in love with Harry Tatro and they married on her eighteenth birthday in 1948. They spent the next five years moving around Saskatchewan following Harry’s school teaching jobs, finally settling in Battleford in 1953. The family settled in Calgary in 1965 and purchased the Trochu farm in 1976 where Dorothy helped build the stonework for the home and enjoyed the garden.

She was a dedicated wife. A wonderful mother to her children, Garry, David (deceased), Susan, Richard, and Gwen. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and they were all her favourite. Dorothy was involved in Brownies when her girls were young and enjoyed quilting with them and later, her granddaughters too. She enjoyed visiting with her family, friends, and neighbours. Dorothy loved to travel; she was always ready to join Harry on work trips and vacationing at the lake in the summer. She also visited Hawaii, Europe, and was able to return to her ancestral home of Belgium twice.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Harry; her four children; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

  2. Louise Klatzel-Mudry :

Dorothy was a wonderful neighbour in Brentwood. Our families grew up beside each other; as a child I remember her great baking when we took a break from running around the yards. As an adult I remember her friendly wave and happy stories of her grandchildren and her time out at the farm.
Thinking of all your family at this time.
    Sincerely,
    Louise Klatzel-Mudry
