Tarrant-Willis, Hilda Isobel, (nee Gillespie)

December 6, 1925 – October 22, 2016

I was born in Vancouver BC and spent my early years on Sea Island (In Richmond) I was predeceased by my brother Charles and sisters Elizabeth, Ellen and Jean. I graduated from nursing at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. After moving with my family to Calgary, I worked for many years at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. I leave my incredible family with many thanks for their love, devotion and care over many years; my daughters Jill, Kathryn and Marybeth; sons Michael and Paul and their significant others as well as my cherished grandsons. In accordance with my wishes, a family service will be held at a later date with internment of ashes in Queen’s Park Cemetery. Thanks to Dr. (Mrs.) Santosh Dubey for her care. The family wishes to thank the wonderful team working on Unit 93 at the Rocky View Hospital. Our mom was treated with respect, dignity and compassion. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made directly to an animal rescue society of their choice. Our mom was an animal lover, who firmly believed that every pet should have a second chance at a forever home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

Condolence Messages

  1. My deepest sympathies to Hilda’s family. Your Mom and Grandma was a gentle, sweet and kind soul. She faced so many challenges but never once did she let them darken who she truly was.
I worked with Hilda for many years at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and after I moved away from Calgary, we kept in touch through the years with annual Christmas cards and letters. I am so grateful you sent a card to let me know of your mom’s passing.
Heaven, indeed claimed one of its angels and called her back home. Her family meant the world to her and I send you my sincerest condolences.

  2. Doreen Montgomery Braverman

I grew up on Sea Island. The Gillespies were our family’s closest friends. Hilda was always a considerate person. When my mother was ill for several months, Hilda helped take care of her. I spoke to Hilda a few times when she moved to Calgary. I wish that I had been able to meet with her. My condolences and good wishes to her family.
