John Tarnowski of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the age of 93 years.
John was born in Bludniki, Poland on September 24, 1925 and immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister at an early age. The family resided in Hanna, AB for a few years prior to moving to Calgary. He met Viola in Calgary where she worked at Picardy’s Bakery. They were married June 27, 1952. John thoroughly enjoyed his career as a journeyman electrician in Calgary for many years where he worked on many notable buildings, the Calgary Tower and Stampede Corral being among them. John was a loyal member of the IBEW, recently receiving his 65 year pin. John enjoyed fishing, camping, riding Rocky his horse and walking his dogs. John loved the time spent with his family and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
John is survived by six children, Joanne Babott, Fred Tarnowski, Greg and Maureen Tarnowski, Beverly and Rick Barwise, twin daughters Shelly and Sherry Tarnowski; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
John was predeceased by Viola, his beloved wife for 65 years, son-in-law Fred Babott, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Irvin Croston; his parents Fred and Ksenia Tarnowski, Viola’s parents Carl and Rovena Johnson
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held in the Hospitality Centre at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
