STRICKLAND, Randall “Randy” Wallace

February 26, 1954 – September 18, 2018

Randy Strickland passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 18, 2018 at the age of 64 years, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.

Randy was born into a loving military family as the youngest child to Wallace and Pearl. He spent the majority of his time growing up in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, but was able to experience life in many cities throughout Canada, as well as different countries around the world. He was passionate about sports, and had a particular fondness to hockey and lacrosse.

Randy is remembered as a loving father and was always extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children. In his working life, Randy was a skilled tradesman who always appreciated an honest day’s work.

He was an avid dog-lover and was rarely seen without his best buddy, Nico. He made friends easily and was known to be loyal, kind, and helping in nature. He very much enjoyed spending time with many of his friends in his dog walking and online gaming communities.

Randy ultimately settled in Calgary where he enjoyed spending time outside, watching his young grandchildren grow, and taking Nico for walks in the Rocky Mountains.

Randy will always be remembered for the thoughtful and caring person that he was, who was always the first to offer help, but never wanted to accept it himself. He will be dearly missed by his numerous family and friends who can rest easy knowing that Randy has peacefully left this world to spend more time with his son Robert and his mother Pearl.

Randy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Jesse Waddell; son Steven Moench; son Josh Strickland; grandchildren: Owen and Lincoln Waddell, Kaiden and Cohen Moench, and Liam and Taylor Strickland; sister and brother-in-law Lynda and Tony Pothier; nieces Shannon (Allen) Whittaker, Krista (Billy) Carr and his nephew Doug (Jill) Cook.

A Family Gathering will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Randy Strickland, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th STREET S.E., Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.
