Barbara – I am truly sorry to hear of Jack’s demise, He was very lucky to have such a devoted wife. Since he could not get better, I am glad that his decreasing quality of life is over and you can concentrate on taking care of yourself. I very much enjoyed knowing him.

Condolence from Harold Edward (Hal) Watt on August 14th, 2012 11:41 PM

Jack, Gerry and I were very close, having met in kindergarten. I was older 13 days.
I remember that these two were almost always adventurous, and the times we spent in the Don Valley, and under the Leaside Viaduct. The twins usually came to visit over Mr. Foxell’s back fence, much to his disapproval, as it was much faster than walking half a city block twice. Because Dad was a Minister, it was politically inexpedient for me to emulate. As the years passed, we had very many happy moments, but began to drift apart.
Finally, between school and Barb (Barker), there seemed little time for us.
I always have had a very strong bond with Jack, and was always pleased to hear from him. Now that he is permanently gone, he will be sorely missed.
I see that Barb has lots of family to comfort her, and I wish her well, in the years to come.

Condolence from Kevin Martin on August 16th, 2012 3:21 PM

I had the pleasure of working with Jack many years ago. His sense of humour was wonderful and he shared it often. It was key in lightening up situations that may not otherwise be ‘light’. Jack was committed to IBM where I knew him and committed to people in general. While I lost touch with Jack over the years, I will never forget him and the positive impacthe had on my life. Rest in peace, buddy…you’ll be missed…God bless…

Dear Barb and family: I am so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. Although I have not seen Jack for years I have always had very fond memories of him especially at the cottage on Lake Scugog when I was 13 or so. I would spend the summers with Leah and my mother at the cottage and I remember Jack and Gerry introducing me to kids my age in the area so I could enjoy my summers there. Also I remember Jack coming up to the cottage on his motorcycle. He was such a joker and fun guy. Everyone loved him who met him. Please accept my condolences.

Condolence from Sam Aylesworth on August 17th, 2012 10:52 AM

I did not know Jack Stevenson, but I write to express condolences to his family. I do not wish to intrude at this important time. However, I saw that Jack’s middle name is Aylsworth, and assume this arose from his family history. I have studied the Aylworth/Aylsworth/Aylesworth family history since 1998, and have traced our family back to Ernestown Ontario and then back to New Engalnd, and would be pleased to share information about this history if questions should arise within your family during the reflective-months ahead. May you all find grace and peace at this time. Sam Aylesworth (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

Condolence from Harold and Sonja Chamney on August 19th, 2012 9:58 PM

Dear Barbara and family,
Harold and I are so very sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. We thought of you and Jack often, but realized the last time we visited, we were more of a nuisance than friends visiting.
Harold worked with Jack at IBM for many years and found him to be a fair and understanding leader.
Outside of work, Harold played golf with Jack on several occasions, always having a lot of fun. Jack was always willing to play golf with anyone, no matter their handicap. Jack was never a poor sport, even on those few occasions he didn’t get top score.
We always found Jack to have impeccable manners, never used vulgarity while talking and was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need.
These last several years have been a very challenging time for the entire family, especially for Barbara, who stood bravely by his side since he first took sick. It is frustrating and upsetting to help your loved one in every way you can, knowing everything you do can’t help with the frustration and pain your loved one is suffering.
We will miss you Jack, but saying goodbye is easier in knowing the poor quality of life you have lived for many months has now been taken away. We pray that you are finally at rest.

Harold & Sonja Chamney
