Cathy has left you a phone message and will be in touch further but in the meantime I wanted to let you all know I am thinking of you and to extend to all of you my deepest sympathy at this time. As you are well aware Barb was a dear friend for many, many years.

  3. Such a shock. In 1990, Ron was my very first golfing friend at Redwood Meadows. A true “soldier” who always added such color to our Snips group. We will never quite be the same but am comforted in recalling the great times we all have had and knowing Ron will be joining the Doc on the first tee soon. My sincere condolences to the family. Rest well my friend.

  4. Condolences to the Sterne family. I , like so many others were privileged to have known Ron and we will all miss him dearly. I will always remember how he made everyone he met feel special. Ron visited us in BC in September this year and within a couple of days all of the staff at my club knew him and still remember Ron fondly because of how warmly he treated them.
Ron, you fought with unbelievable tenacity in everything you did and you are a winner. We miss you already.

  5. Ronnie was a “one of a kind” kind of guy! He loved good sushi, fine wines and great food. He had a “firecracker” personality and was a Redwood Meadows Club House favourite. He always loved to push the envelope and never hesitated take on a bet. He worked hard and long developing his business ventures. So sorry to see such a great character leave us. Rest well my friend.
Sincere condolences to family and friends.

  10. Bob,
I am deeply saddened by Ron’s passing. I first met Ron about 30 years ago when he joined up with me and my two young sons for a game of golf at Redwood Meadows. I initially wasn’t sure what to make of Ron as he quickly assumed the role of instructor to my sons. They politely accepted his tutoring but as they said later that evening, “He seemed to need some golf instruction himself.” In any event, Ron’s and my mutual love of golf was the catalyst for a developing friendship. I came to respect and admire the passion, determination and resiliency that he brought to all his endeavours and challenges. I will miss his wit, humour and occasional quirky antics. But, most of all, I will miss his friendship.
My heartfelt condolences to you and other family members.

  12. My deepest condolences to the Sterne family. Ron and I had many battles on the golf course, but were always quick to share laughter and a bottle of wine soon after. He would always meet my “Ronald” greeting with his “Johnald” retort. I will miss our friend.

  13. Heather and Ernie Uniat :

The Gumper, as Ron was known at Redwood, will be sorely missed. Ron was always competitive and never gave up on a game, as he was famous for making a lengthy putt on 18 to win a match, a Snip or the numerous presses he had on a game.

Always friendly in the club house after a game and was very generous in buying a drink or two for his golf buddies. And always had a hug for Huey (as he called Heather).

Played with Ron in a couple of Men’s Closing tournaments and always played well to help get our team in the money!!

Every club has characters that are the heart of the club and Ron certainly ranks right up there at Redwood. Rest In Peace Ron.

    Condolences to Ron’s family.
