January 31, 1933 – November 7, 2009

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Domenico Stambene on Saturday, November 7, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 76 years.

Domenico passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 to begin his new journey in life. Dad had a love for fishing, gardening and was meticulous with his vehicles. Dad was very proud of his children and grandchildren, he was always there to watch them in their many activities, providing support and encouragement. He was a dedicated, hardworking husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Predeceased by his wife, Isabella in 1994, Domenico leaves behind to mourn, his children, Joe (Janis), John(Anna) and Angela (Andre) Guzzardi. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Carson, Tyler, Julian, Anisse, and Jenna.

Special thanks to Dr. Scot Dowden, nurses and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre as well as Kathleen Russell and the team of caregivers from Palliative Home Care for the care and compassion shown to our dad and family.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Domenico’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: (403) 521-3433.

You always spoke in class so highly of your family, your very brave father being one of your favorite characters in your many stories. I will be praying for you and your family in this very sad time.
