October, 06, 2017– Calgary, AB, Canada

Dimitrios beloved husband of Maria, passed away on Friday, Oct 06, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Dimitrios was a wonderful husband, father and friend who will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.

Dimitrios was born in Kokkinomilea, Evia. His family tended sheep and grew their own food. When Dimitrios reached adulthood, he joined the army and after he worked on a shipping boat which allowed him to see the world. Dimitrios came to Canada in the 70’s and built a happy and successful life. In 1980 he married his soulmate Maria. They spent every day of their lives together in a strong and equal partnership and were rarely apart. Together they put their heart and souls into building a successful business, everlasting friendships and a very happy home. Dimitrios proudly watched his daughters Chrisoula and Stephanie grow, finish school and start their own families. He deeply loved the time he got to spend with his grandchildren Sophia, Mark and Nikolas. Dimitrios was a great personality who was blessed with lifelong friendships that were very special and dear to his heart. He will live on through all of the laughter and memories that were created. Through hard work, Dimitrios built a successful business. Varsity Pizza allowed him to support his family and community. He made many friends through his business and he was a cherished member of the community. Above all, Dimitrios was a kind, hard working person. He was always putting the needs of the ones around him before his own. He will be dearly missed but his kindness, generosity and humor lives on through his family.

Dimitrios is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Chrisoula and Kelly, their children Sophia and Mark, and Stephanie and Anastasios and their child Nikolas.

Condolence from Suzy Stamatonikolos + Family on October 12th, 2017 7:07 PM

To may Aunt Maria, and cousins Chrisoula and Stephanie,
Words are just not enough to express the sadness that I feel. My beloved Uncle was a very special man. Although we live far away, I will always remember the happy times we all spent together. From the moment I walked out of Calagry’s airport and saw him holding a red apple, with reference to Kokkinomilia “just in case I didn’t recognise him”, to our many humorous conversations about whether the world was flat or round, he always made me smile.
Rest in peace my dear uncle.
Thea Maria and girls, we are far away but the sorrow and hurt we feel knows no distance. We are here for you, now and always.
