June 24, 2019- Calgary, Alberta

Rosalind Slaunwhite, beloved wife of Richard Slaunwhite of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away on Monday, June, 24, 2019 at the age of 69 years.

Rose was born in St John New Brunswick, Canada on April 13, 1950. Rose graduated from Dartmouth High School and in recent years, she worked for Shoppers Drug Mart Coopers Crossing. She was a member of the Armdale Fairview Rockingham Lions Club. Rose accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of the birth of her granddaughter. Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Her most memorable vacation was when she travelled to Ireland in her 40’s. Rose’s favourite quote was “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever”. She will be most remembered for her smile, larger than life personality and love for her family.

Besides her loving husband, Rose is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennifer Ross and her husband Anthony, and step-daughter Terri Casey and her husband Colin all of Calgary, AB; and granddaughter, Sydney Ross of Calgary, AB. Rose is also survived by her two brothers and sister-in-law, Edmund (Ed) Hanley and his wife Bonnie of Fredericton, NB, and Daniel (Dan) Hanley of Ottawa, ON; two sisters and brother-in-law, Catherine White of New York City, USA, and Margaret (Marg) Comeau and her husband Peter of Lower Sackville, NS; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her cat Fiona. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Lavinia and James Hanley; two brothers that passed in infancy; sister Elizabeth (Betty) Tanner; and cat Sassy.

A service will be held in Halifax at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Foothills Medical Centre ICU, particularly Dr. Thomas Stelfox, and neurosurgeon Dr. John Wong.
