June 9, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Freddie Siewert, beloved husband of Connie Siewert (nee Ferguson) of Calgary, Alberta chose to depart this world on his own terms on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the age of 60 years after a long battle with MS.
Freddie was born in Calgary, AB on July 28, 1958 and attended Crescent Heights High School. He loathed bullies and soon became known as the defender of the “little guy.”
Freddie married Connie in December 1985 and was overjoyed at the arrival of his daughter in the spring of 1987.
Freddie’s career of choice was the trucking industry and referred to himself as a commodity relocating engineer and was soon coined with the trucker handle of “Fast Freddie”. He later went on to become a class 1 certified driver instructor. He was a fierce advocate for safety and formal education in the industry and took great care in showing the up and comers how to do it the “right way”.
Freddie enjoyed playing all sports. He particularly excelled at hockey and was encouraged by his coaches to consider playing professionally. He was also an avid “car guy” who loved to frequent Race City to run the quarter mile strip in his beloved Monza Spyder.
He will be most remembered for his witty sense of humor, zest for life and contagious laughter. He had an uncanny ability to take the ordinary and make it special. He will also be remembered for his deep love of animals and the critters of the world insisting that squirrels have rights too.
Besides his loving wife Connie, Freddie is survived by his daughter Cara Siewert (Garry), father Fred Siewert, his brothers, Randy (Jessica) and John (Aileen) and brother-in-law, Barry Ferguson (Lynn) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Louise Clark.
