SHINGOOSE, Linda June

February 5, 1949 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan
February 22, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Linda Shingoose of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019.

Linda brought laughter to everyone around her with her crazy sense of humour. Linda always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Not only was she a survivor, she was a strong, brave and generous soul. Linda enjoyed looking her best and loved to get her nails and hair done. She was known as the story teller in her family, which was made easy by her vivid imagination. She also enjoyed collecting keychains from her families’ travels. In her younger days she created wonderful ceramics, which was easy because of her pristine attention to detail. She loved camping and had many good memories of Pigeon Mountain with family. She also adored Mya the family dog. She was strong in her faith, and thanked God for each new day even in her illness.

It brought great joy to Linda, to be a mother and grandmother. She loved her parents dearly and cared for them and her siblings until the end. She not only was a loving sibling to her brothers and sisters but was also a friend to them. Her nieces and nephews adored her greatly, and Linda enjoyed making them laugh. She touched many lives with her acts of kindness, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Linda will be painfully missed by her daughter Pam Smith; granddaughter Taylor Smith; and the love of her life, who was also her friend and caregiver, Ken Lien. She will also be dearly missed by her surviving sisters, Molly Cutler, Shirley Dufour, and Marilyn Shingoose; many nieces and nephews; her former husband Bernie Holod; and former son-in-law Samuel Smith.

She is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Olive Shingoose; her siblings, Audrey Shingoose, Herbert Shingoose, Lloyd Shingoose, Denty Shingoose, Ross Shingoose, and Sally Ferguson; and nephew Chad Shingoose.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Robert McClure United Church (5510-26AVE N.E. Calgary, Alberta) on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Linda Shingoose, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., Calgary, AB, T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403- 248-8585.

I send my condolences to the Shingoose family in this time of sorrow. Linda was a true friend to me for many years. Linda when I moved to Edmonton, just shortly after my amputation of my left leg you came to cheer me up. We spend hours sharing our stories and laughing, singing and praying together. We known each other a long time, I will always cherish you in my thoughts and my heart. Now I did ask Kristian to give you a message, now since I couldn’t get to you before you decided to go to heaven, I have to wait and have that talk with you, when I get there. I will miss you lots always!
