SHANNON, William Robert “Bill”

August 3, 1945 – Kingston, Ontario
December 10, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

William Shannon of Calgary, passed away after a long decline from dementia on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 73 years.

Bill Shannon was a wonderful and loving family man. He was a terrific dad and grandfather. He was loyal, dependable and hard- working but also knew how to have a great time. He was always the life of the party, always had a good joke to tell and he was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back, a big cuddly teddy bear. He was a total ladies’ man with a ton of charisma and a smile that lit up the room. He got great joy from dancing and he loved to sing around the house, in his truck or on a stage for others. He suffered far too long from dementia and is hopefully now dancing up a storm with all of the beautiful angels. He has left the physical world but has filled our hearts with precious memories. He will always be loved and he will always be missed.

He leaves behind his children, Bill Shannon (wife Jen), Sue Shannon (husband Phil), Carri Gauthier (husband Ray); his grandchildren, Chris (wife Kristen), Dakota, Shelby (Nathan), Kade, Jess (husband Tyler), Kyla and Ava; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Kohen, Vian and Violet; sisters, Laurie, Sylvia and Cecille (husband Bob). Bill was predeceased by Parents William Joseph and Susan Violet Shannon as well as sister Gloria (husband Dave).

In living memory of Bill Shannon, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

I remember him singing his favourite karaoke tunes “Friends in Low Places” and “The Dance” and the song he sang for me “The Last Kiss”.
