June 12, 1969 – Kamloops, BC
January 4, 2015 – Okotoks, AB

Kim’s brave battle with cancer came to a peaceful end on Sunday, January 4, 2015 with her husband John Sera by her side.

Throughout her courageous battle, Kim never lost her humour and grace. Her infectious smile, witty humour, and selfless actions made Kim a pleasure to be around. Whether it was quickly in passing, or a full day of chit-chat, Kim always lifted your spirits.

Kim moved to Alberta from British Columbia in the late 1990’s where she quickly gained friends that would later evolve into her chosen family. Always the entertainer, she often occupied the role of hostess, party planner, card giver, and event decorator. Kim’s love for throwing amazing wedding showers or Christmas parties on a Dollar Store budget became legendary in many circles. The most generous of souls, Kim would give all she had just to make the other person’s event magical.

Through work, Kim met her husband John Sera, sharing a common bond for the love of hockey. Kim a devoted Vancouver Canucks fan, and John the proudest of Calgary Flames fans. Their love for each other was never “shut-out” even during the closest of hockey games. Three years later, they were blessed with their beautiful daughter Georgia. If you had ever asked Kim what she wanted out of life, she would have said “to be a mother and a wife”. With John, she was able to build a loving home for their darling little “G” and her furry brothers River and Gunnar, just as she had always wished for.

Kim lived her life without regret. She was happy with who she was, what she did, and how she lived. Spending holidays with her friends, going to parent-child events, baking muffins, and loving life is how she approached every day. Those that knew Kim best would say she was sweet, humble, giving, funny, and compassionate. Kim was the essence of life, and will forever live on in all that she touched.

Kim was predeceased by her father George Louis Corley and she will continue to be loved and missed by her husband John; daughter Georgia; her mother Lois Comeau (Terry); in-laws, Brian Sera, Karen Kellerman and Constance Taylor; as well as her extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Kim’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, P.O. It’s so nice to see that everyone felt how beautiful you are inside and out! What a precious gift to leave such a legacy. We only knew each other for a short time, and during that time our girls were bonded together as kindred spirits. Our decision to move to Stavely was a hard one…one of the biggest cons was separating our Sydney from Georgia. Sydney being such a loving person was just heartbroken she couldn’t see G every day. Kim, you treated Syd like she was your own, kissed her, hugged her, held sweet sleepovers and always welcoming to us as a family. Thank you for the coffee dates, the little jokes we had and most of all leaving behind a beautiful hearted little girl who we love so much. I am so happy that you had true love, a daughter you raised so well, and friends and family that truly saw how genuine and pure you were. May more people in this world live by your example. Brave, strong, loving and always kind. May you spread your wings and fly dear girl, for you are now the most beautiful of angels. xoxoxo

    John & Georgia,

It was clear from the beginning of meeting Kim what a lovely, kind-hearted person she was. Our connection was mainly through our girls, both attending Big Rock school and then onto Westmount and now sharing the same teacher this year. Our paths crossed different times as well, whether at the school, birthday parties, the pool, or around town. She was always so friendly and made it easy to strum up a conversation with. It was usually one mom to another chit chat, but we were able to relate on many levels. I can see how she made many friends throughout her life. She will forever be missed.

In time, may the precious memories of Kim bring you both some comfort.

Condolences first and foremost to John and Georgia. There are no words or acts of kindness from family and friends that will erase all the pain of losing your wife, John and mother to Georgia. Additionally, my husband and I send our condolences to Lois & Terry Comeau (Kim’s mother), and her in-laws, Constance Taylor, Brian Sera and Karen Kellerman. May your happiest memories of Kim help you through your most difficult times of grieving your daughter and daughter-in-law.

As Kim’s aunt for 45 years, I still remember her sorrow as a little girl losing her dad. To reiterate what everyone else has mentioned – Kim was so much fun to be around, and a real fighter! She gave life everything she had in spite of her tragedy experienced at such a young age and ultimately, with her own illness. Her Dad, my brother, would be so immensely proud of her and all that she accomplished in her lifetime. The two of them are together now – totally free of pain and watching over us, especially little ‘G’. All of us on her father’s side – aunts, uncles, cousins, spouses, etc. will work through our sadness at losing her, as we did with the loss of her Dad. Kim will be dearly missed and our special memories of her at the family reunions, weddings and individual visits with her will be treasured more and more every year!
