SEMOTONK, Theodora (Dean)

September 2, 1930 – Bezanson, Alberta
July 16, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Beloved Aunt Dean Semotonk, of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 88 years.

Dean grew up in the Peace River Country. Eventually she settled in Calgary, met and married Norm, and began a career in oil and gas. She spent many rewarding years working for Petro Canada (Suncor Energy).

Dean and Norm spent their retirement years enjoying Calgary in the summer. They were active members of the Valley Ridge Golf Club for many years. They travelled to Arizona for the winter months. Dean and Norm loved the fun-filled, warm days in Arizona. After losing her soulmate, Norm, in 2003 Dean ventured off to Sun City on her own until recently when her health began to fail.

Dean is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and their families. She will be fondly remembered by them. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman, eight brothers and two sisters.

Special thanks to Dr. Shankel, Dr. Smith and the Staff at Bow View Manor for their kindness and excellent care.

A Remembrance Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through

It is with great sadness to read of the passing of Dean.
I befriended both Norm and Dean many years ago when Norm and I were police officers .
Dean was the most enjoyable and kind person during years
    we were in touch.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all
