SEAGER, William “Bud” Harold

February 13, 1923 – Edmonton, Alberta
November 14, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

William Harold Seager passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018 in his 96th year.

William or “Bud” as he was commonly known, was born in Edmonton and spent much of his life there. He attended the University of Alberta graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. He is predeceased by his wife Marilyn June Seager, to whom he was married for 65 years. They enjoyed a long and very happy life together raising their three sons, William (Christine McKinnon), Robert (Julia) and Donald (Catherine Ranger), and enjoying ten grandchildren and two great grandsons. William was also predeceased by his sister Frances Bird.

William was a successful Professional Engineer and business man, President and owner of a respected engineering consulting firm. He distinguished himself in the field of corrosion control, primarily for pipelines and other buried structures. In 2002, he was made a ‘Fellow’ of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers for his work on northern pipelines and the development of significant new techniques for corrosion control in cold climates. He received the Engineers Joint Council Directory for Engineers of Distinction, The APEGGA Certificate of Appreciation, APEGGA Life Membership and was recognized as a North American Engineer of Distinction. He received numerous speaker awards in Canada, The United States, Russia, China, Mexico and Australia.

William enjoyed a variety of interests throughout his life including travel, cars, golf and hunting.
