SCHULTZ, Verna Rose (nee Cluett)

October 12, 1936 – June 16, 2019

It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Verna Rose Schultz (nee Cluett). She died peacefully in Calgary, Alberta with her son David and daughter Cindy at her side. Also present was David’s partner Debbie and Cindy’s husband Barry.

In the final days of Verna’s life, her granddaughter Jennifer and grandson Michael gave her great comfort. Jennifer’s husband Ryan, their children, and his father Kevin spent many hours at her bedside. Verna was visited by her cousin Edna, good friends Helen and Lena; through all the years, they remained close and never lost touch.

Vera was born in Frenchman’s Cove, Newfoundland. She moved to Halifax as a young woman and worked for the Nova Scotia Light and Power Company. She met he husband Elvin while he was enlisted in the RCN and moved to Winnipeg, Regina, and finally settled in Calgary. Verna loved her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. They were her life and comfort. Verna was generous, independently stubborn, and oh so hard working. She lived and died as she pleased. Her love and kindness will never be forgotten. Verna left home as a teenager and will now return. Her ashes will rest with her mother and father at St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery in Frenchman’s Cove, Newfoundland. Service to be announced in the spring of 2020.

She is survived by her son David (Debbie); daughter Cindy (Barry); grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Heidi (Kevin) and Michael (Christina); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Andy, Lucy, Emmrie and Bryson; sisters Marjorie and Melita; brothers Will (Iris) Jim (Kay) Roy, and her many relatives and friends. Verna is predeceased by her husband Elvin Arnold of Winnipeg, Manitoba, her mother Alice and father Stephen John of Frenchman’s Cove, Newfoundland.
