SCHINDLBECK, Alois (Louie)

December 1, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Alois (Louie) Schindlbeck passed away peacefully on Friday December 1 2017 at the age of 87 years, at the Foothills hospital palliative care unit with his son Jonathan by his side after a rapid advancement of the illness he had held at bay for more than 7 years.

Louie immigrated to Canada in 1956 from Germany coming to the Bow Valley and settling in Banff. After applying his carpentry and construction skills on projects such as the Sulphur Mountain Tea House and the Cascade Power Plant and working at the Chateau Lake Louise as a carpenter Louie found his home at the Banff Springs Hotel. Louie loved Banff and all it had to offer and though he left to Red Deer in 2000 his heart was always in Banff.

Louie is survived by his son Jonathan his wife Tristan, and daughter Erin, brother Ferdinand and his wife Marlanie, brother George, sister Fany and many nieces and nephews. Louie was predeceased by his parents Alois and Helene Schindlbeck; sister Anne and brother Sept.

As per Louie’s wishes a portion of his remains will be scattered and a portion will be interred in Mountain View Cemetery in Calgary during a private family event.
