  3. I’m so sorry to hear of Mabel’s passing. We visited Randy and Mabel in Redwood Meadows quite a few times and she was always such a wonderful hostess, so kind and such a great cook. Dad and mom (Ross and Marj McKinney) always enjoyed the visits as well. We also had some great visits in Sundance and met for lunch. I remember Mabel’s dream was to have a log home and I heard she was happy in Kaleden but I never got to visit them there. Mabel will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Carol Pearce (McKinney)

  4. In Memory of Mabel Schaetzle

We wish to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Family of Mabel Schaetzle.
When Mabel moved from BC to Lethbridge we never had a forwarding address and unfortunately lost touch but many wonderful memories of Mabel linger on. Both Mabel and Randy were great friends and we will always cherish the memories of our times together. We will miss Mabel so very much and we are sorry that we never got to visit Mabel and Randy at their beautiful acreage in the Okanogan of British Columbia though invited many times

One of my fondest memories was attending a large Dog Show in Anchorage, Alaska with Mabel. We certainly got a lot of attention at the airports – Two women with three Great Danes in tow. Mabel and I had to hire a limousine to take our special Great Dane show dogs from the airport to the hotel because the rental van we had booked hadn’t been delivered to the airport.
When we went to the Dog Show, we waited in the van till the last minute to surprise our competition otherwise they would not have shown their dogs and our trip would have been in vain. We took our dogs into the ring and both Mabel and I proceeded to win, win, win. We succeeded in obtaining an American Championship on “Heidi” my Great Dane and mother of Mabel’s Great Dane “Jetson”. “Jetson” (2nd top Great Dane in Canada) won his class and points towards his American Championship) and his full sister “Happy” won another big class. We had a great and exciting time and a triumphal outing with our Great Danes. Two fellows at ringside had to hold all of the trophies and ribbons that we won.
Mabel always enjoyed handling and showing her Great Danes at the Dog Shows and loved her dogs.

We travelled together with Randy and Mabel in our motorhomes to a lot of big Dog Shows in Canada and the United States and joined them on many other occasions as well. We always had a great time together. God bless both of them.

Mabel was a special and dear friend and will be missed.

In memory of Mabel, a donation is being made to the Alberta SPCA in Edmonton.

Very sorry we are unable to attend the service today.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.

    Fern Belanger and Lloyd McLean
