SAUER, Eric

July 15, 1922 – Balgonie, Saskatchewan
May 23, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Eric Sauer of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the age of 96 years.

Eric was born on the family farm in Balgonie, Saskatchewan on July 15, 1922. He lived in Regina and Yorkton as well as Vancouver before moving to Calgary in 1970. Eric accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his long and successful career with Electrolux. He credited his success and countless top salesman awards to his determination. Eric enjoyed the love of his family and travelling. One of his most memorable trips was as a translator at the Russian Youth Festival in 1957, where he proudly presented the Mayor of Moscow with a full native headdress from the Saskatchewan First Nations. He will be most remembered for his quick wit and wry sense of humor, often delivered with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Eric is survived by his children, Leann (Mario) Patacic, Darren Sauer, Arlene Bort, Sherry (Ed) Bourassa; grandchildren, Alissa, Josh, Cassidy, Dallas, Tabitha and Tanya; three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Eric was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn; parents, Jacob and Mary Sauer; brothers, Reinhold and Erwin; sisters, Hertha and Gertrude; and by his dogs, Smoky, Keese and Buster.

A celebration of Eric’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Seton AgeCare and Dr. Christiaan Rabie for taking good care of our Dad/Grandfather.

In living memory of Eric Sauer, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek.
