January 22, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta

We are profoundly saddened to announce that Georgina passed away in Calgary on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the age of 75.

Georgina was born in Calgary, September 20, 1940, to the late Anne and Ken Ruttle. Georgina was a graduate of Western Canada High School and Mount Royal College. She took pride in her career as a well-respected Administrative Assistant, working for Royal Trust, The Calgary Inn, and the Calgary Board of Education – William Roper Hull School. Georgina was a creative person. Her talents and interests included interior decorating, designing and sewing clothes; crocheting, making Christmas crafts and soap making. She liked to sing and loved to dance. She was a loving mother; her daughter, Lynette, was the joy of her life. Georgina was a devoted sister, aunt and friend; her family and friends were very dear to her.

She is survived by her daughter Lynette James and son-in-law John Nesbitt; her sisters, Shirley Dyar (Don), Sharon Sly (Mel), Pamela Armstrong (Brian Arcand), Patrice O’Brien (Patrick), her cousin Cheryl Scarlett (George), many nieces, nephews and extended family as well as her cherished life-long friends. Georgina was an inspiration to all who knew her as she faced her many health issues with courage, humour and dignity. We will remember her quiet grace, her unfailing and creative spirit, her warmth and her generous heart. We will miss her beautiful smile that would light up the room.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Calgary Humane Society, the Veterans Food Bank or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Georgina, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

Condolence from Elaine Stone on January 27th, 2016 2:43 PM

Although I only knew Georgina for a few years, I too thought of her more as a friend than a client.
We hit it off straight away and many’s the time we were in fits of laughter over something that tickled our fancy.
I was a little shocked when I got told the news as I was just about to visit her.
Considering what Georgina had to deal with she battled through with remarkable cheerfulness.
I will miss our together time.
Georgina often told me how proud of Lynette she was and of her achievements.
My thoughts are with Lynette and John and Georgina’s family at this unhappy time.

Condolence from Heather Burns on January 29th, 2016 3:43 PM

I am so sorry to hear of Georgina’s passing. She was a special person who touched the lives of many people at Hull school. I have many special memories of times with Georgina both at school and in the many social events we used to have back in the day. I don’t think I have ever known a mom to love a daughter more than she loved Lynette. I send you my deepest condolences and I will buy a storybook ( I wish you more http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22484277-i-wish-you-more )and put it in the Hull School Library in her honour.

Condolence from Debbie & Joe Stepaniuk on January 31st, 2016 2:40 PM

Joe and I were so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. Its tough to lose a Mom, no matter how old they are. I didnt know your Mom Lynette but Im sure she was a great human being. Most Moms are. I also lost my Mom in November of 2015, one of the worst feelings and things to go through, but you go day to day hoping things do get better. Remember the good times you had and remember you have lots of memories you shared together. I so understand how you feel about it all, it’s not something anyone can understand unless they’ve been through it. It will get better as time goes on BUT the emptiness never leaves.
