RUMLEY, Glen Shannon

September 20, 1958 – Calgary, Alberta
August 7, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Following his battle with cancer, Glen Shannon Rumley, 59, of Calgary, Alberta, peacefully passed away at his home on August 7, 2018.

Glen was born September 20, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta to Jim and Rose. On October 28, 1978 he married his one and only, Judy Rumley in Calgary. They created many memories along the way, including starting their family several years later. Glen was a very proud father to all of his girls.

Glen is survived by his wife, Judy Rumley; four daughters, Nicole (Jerad) Meyer, Kim Rumley, Brandi Rumley, and Nitasha Rumley; four grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, Natalie, and Hailey; his sister, Laurie (Tracy) Cox, and brother, Terry (Kim) Kadey; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Rose.

Glen was previously employed as a truck driver and was praised frequently for his eye for detail and great organizational skills. He really enjoyed cruising around on his motorcycle, wind blowing through his hair. Those who knew him, know he could usually be found behind the camera or camcorder at events making sure there were memories captured (even if he did keep them for himself!). If he was cooking and wasn’t at the BBQ, you likely would have found him in the kitchen making some crazy food concoction. He was an amazing socializer, always reminiscing about his past or just sharing a good story. He was never one to pass up a good bargain, wherever he found it.

A special thank you to Josh and the rest of the staff at Palliative Home Care for their loving and caring support.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at Montana’s BBQ & Bar, (100 – 2555 32 Street NE). Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Glen Rumley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., Calgary, AB, T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403- 248-8585.

  14. We all grew into adults and drifted apart, but Glen was a very big part of my youth as well as many others. Although we did not spend much time together in later years the memories of our youth linger. I know it sounds cliche but Glen truly was one of a kind. The original joker, smoker and midnight toker. He loved his family and friends above all. He has touched many many hearts in his journey of life and will be remembered as the most beautiful soul whose light was extinguished much too soon. I have very fond memories of Glen, as does everyone who had the honor of meeting him. I am grateful that he was a part of my life and will cherish the memories. My heart and prayers go out to all family and friends at this time.
