ROWAN, Gordon (Gordie) Robert

Gordon Rowan beloved husband, dad, granddad and great granddad, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the age of 93 years.

Gordie was a decorated World War II veteran. After returning from the war, Gordie began his career in the oil industry, where he had plenty of fun working for the next fifty-three years. He loved travelling, all sports, especially golfing, skiing and swimming, and spending time with his family. He volunteered throughout his life including Oilmen’s Technical Society, Alberta Golf, and Navy Veterans. Gordie was a big kid at heart, always ready for an adventure and a laugh.

Gordie will be lovingly remembered by Jean (nee Bucher), his wife of sixty-nine years; children, Maureen Rowan of Victoria, BC, Ron Rowan (Jolynn) of Blaine, Washington, Barbara Ann Ireland (Rick) of Spruce Grove, AB, Betty Lou Bellavance (Keith) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Katy and Duncan Ireland, Rowan and Sarah Bellavance; great-granddaughter Ava; sister Mavis Austin and many nieces and nephews.

Gordon was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Bateman, Helen Scott, and Edith Titterington; and brothers, Curley Rowan, and Tommy Rowan.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

    I am glad he did not share his real feelings with Paul Martin on the trip to France or he may have spent his last years behind bars!
