RODAK, Clara Mary

July 1, 1932 – Wilkie, Saskatchewan
January 6, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

On January 6, we lost the kindest and most caring wife, mother, gramy and friend. Clara passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Clara was predeceased by her daughter Tami in 2005; they are now together again.

Clara will be forever missed by her loving husband John and their children; Lori (Clayton), Sari (Gord), Gina (Reg), Jace (Jan) and their seven grandchildren; Matthew, Megan, Paige, Tommy, Jasmine, Jett and Jordan. Clara was a wonderful sister to Cecilia, Joseph, Bernilda, Kay, Ray, Len, John and Angie.

She was a dedicated mother, who was a true inspiration to all who had the honour to have known her. Throughout our lives she taught us the importance of love, compassion, and kindness, and instilled these values in our family. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her 62 years married to John, building many memories together following the sunshine in their motorhome, or on a cruise ship. Clara is now in God’s loving care. She is gone but will live on forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Clara’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB), on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Inn from the Cold Society, Suite 104, 110 – 11th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0X5, Telephone: (403) 263-8384, www.innfromthecold.org.

In living memory of Clara Rodak, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. CALGARY, AB, T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.

  5. I have known Clare since 1981 when she was my supervisor at The Co-Op Credit Union in Dalhousie. She was the best supervisor I ever had. I also loved her as a friend. We have stayed in touch since then and every time I came to Calgary we got together. Sincerest condolences to John “and the kids.” Weren’t we all lucky to have her in our lives?

  6. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

I had the privilege of knowing “gramy” for many years and can say firsthand the kind words expressed in her obituary are genuine and true.

Beyond that, she was a generous and selfless person in all she did and for all those she cared for and encountered.

I’m saddened by your loss, but forever grateful in knowing the woman she was and how she impacted my life.

    Rest in Peace Gramy
