RICHARDSON, David

June 26, 1973– Calgary, Alberta
August 2, 2015– Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Glen Richardson on August 2nd at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. David left this world surrounded by people who loved him including his adoring wife, Treasure Richardson.

David lived his life with a grin on his face and great passion for everything he did. We are grateful that his last day was spent with the love of his life, Treasure and some of his closest friends. Together they enjoyed many of the activities that David loved most like dancing, singing, playing a challenging game of backgammon and a moonlit swim.
Although his life was short it was full of accomplishments, travel and most of all, love.
David grew-up in Calgary and graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School in 1991. David continued his education at the University of Victoria in British Columbia studying business. He earned his Bachelors in Commerce degree with distinction with a specialization in Entrepreneurship, which he put to good use when he and Treasure opened the Edmonton divisions of the ‘Tin Box’ in 2004 in partnership with his sister Kari and brother-in-law Sean Meggs. In 2012, David returned to Calgary and the home of his beloved Flames, to join his father Glen and brother Todd in the family automotive business at Charlesglen Toyota Scion. He completed the National Automobile Dealer’s Association (NADA) Dealer Management Program in preparation for his roll as Dealer Principal of Charlesglen Toyota Scion, which he earned earlier this year.
David’s business acumen earned him a spot in the prestigious, Quantum Shift Leadership Program where he thrived in the company of like-minded business visionaries.
Although his career was very important to him, what David valued most was family, friendships and his relationships with canines. David often reflected on how lucky he felt to have been raised in such a loving and supportive home which he emulated with his wife and children later in life.

David leaves behind his soul mate and wife, Treasure Rae (Skead) Richardson; daughter Jade MacMillan–Skead, son Kai MacMillan –Skead; loving parents Jeanette and Glen Richardson; brother Todd Richardson (Natasha); sister Kari Meggs (Sean); nieces Zoe and Julia Richardson and Bryanna Meggs; nephews Alex Richardson and Denver Meggs and Aunties Norma Lebsack and Ruby Blackwood (Gerry) and numerous cousins.

David’s goofy sense of humour; kind and loving nature; keen analytical reasoning skills and pure love of life will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

The Richardson family would like to express heart-felt gratitude for the out-pouring of love and support received during this most difficult time and recognizes the valiant efforts of the first responders who attended to David.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Wednesday, August 12th, at the Foothills Alliance Church, 333 Edgepark Blvd., NW, Calgary, Alberta at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.

The David Richardson Foundation has been created under the umbrella of the Provident Foundation. To donate online visit http://providentfoundation.ca/. Cheques made payable to the Provident Foundation with a memo directing funds to the David Richardson Foundation can be mailed to Provident Foundation, 997 – 105, 150 Crowfoot Cres., NW, Calgary, Alberta, T3G 3T2. Funds to be allocated to causes dear to David’s heart. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of David Richardson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 403-241-0044.

  13. Dear Treasure,
Please accept my condolences for your loss of David. I am saddened, not only for your loss, but also because I always enjoyed the two of you together and admired how much of a couple you were. I also appreciated David for his thoughtfulness and caring for others, and I miss the lunches after you moved to Calgary — those “just because” lunches every once in a while. I’ll carry those memories and sentiments with me along with memories of what I consider a privilege and a pleasure to work with you and David. I wish you all the best, and I am comforted by knowing that David left you a legacy that will give you strength. If you ever get up to Edmonton and have a spare lunch, I think it’s my turn to treat. Your friend, Stuart
