RIBEY, Susan Mary Rita

September 17, 1955 – Kirkland Lake, Ontario
April 30, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Susan passed away suddenly in the early morning of Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Rockyview General Hospital. She fought a mighty battle with MSA in her last years.

Sue was born in Kirkland Lake Ontario in 1955, and grew up in Elliot Lake until she later moved to Alberta in 1975 and then settled in Calgary in 1977. She met the love of her life David Ribey when she sold him an insurance policy in 1979. They married in July 1982 and settled in the community of Haysboro where she had her two wonderful girls, Jennifer and Heather. Sue started a day home shortly after and helped raise several of the children in the community. She later went to school for nursing and graduated as an LPN in 1995. She started her career at Care West then moved to the 8th and 8th clinic and finished her career in public health at Acadia clinic. You could always count on Sue’s hospitality and warmth in her home. She was a pinnacle in the community and her house always had an open door. She had a true love of entertaining and loved her flowers and gardening. Her family and friends were the most important people in her life. She loved and doted over her husband and children and more recently her cherished grandson Brian. Her generosity, love and kindness extended far and wide to all that she touched. She was a friend to all, often going out of her way to support and listen to others. She will be forever remembered for her laughter, warm heart, caring personality, and her love of shopping. She will be forever missed.

Sue is survived by her loving husband David; her father Jack (Margaret) Lapping; children, Jennifer (Matthew) Low and Heather (Shane) Silbernagel; cherished grandson Brian; siblings, Louise (George) Farkouh and family, Bruce Lapping and family and Jayne (Rob) O’Gorman; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sue was predeceased by her mother Gail Lapping.

Susan’s Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
