May 8, 1944 – Woking, England
August 20, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Pearl passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the age of 75 years.
Pearl was born in Woking, England and came to Canada with her mother, Doris, after World War II in May of 1945. Soon after, they were joined in Winnipeg by her father Chim. The family grew quickly, and she proudly fulfilled her role as big sister to her 8 siblings. After high school, Pearl enjoyed her career as a legal secretary. In 1970, Pearl moved to Regina, Sask. where she met the love of her life, Ed. They were married on May 1, 1972. Soon after, they welcomed their daughter Chantalle, followed by son Anthony three years later. Pearl dedicated her life to her family and delighted in spending her time surrounded by family and friends. In 1983, Ed accepted a transfer to Calgary, starting a new phase of their family life and the beginning of new friendships. Pearl’s favorite hobby was crochet, taking great pleasure in gifting handcrafted items to her friends and family. Dishcloths and afghans were her specialty. The other great joy of her life was her role as Nana to her two grandchildren, Jacob and Kelsey. Pearl suffered with Multiple Sclerosis for most of her adult life but never let it affect her sunny disposition. She kept her positive attitude and outlook on life, and always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.
Pearl is survived by her loving husband of forty-seven years Ed Reiss; her daughter, Chantalle (Rob) Mondor; her grandchildren, Jacob and Kelsey Mondor; her son, Anthony (Kyla Spearing) Reiss; her sisters, Wendy Woods, Dodie (Ken) Pobihushchyj, Kim Bilcowski, Debbie (Max) Lozynyc; her brothers, Rick (Grace) Kirton, Mack (Sue) Kirton and Darrrell Kirton; her brother-in-law, John Todd; her sisters-in-law, Pauline Wild, Ursula Reiss and numerous other family members.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur (Chim) and Doris Kirton; her sister, Donna Todd; her sister-in-law, Angeline Wickenheiser; brothers-in-law Carson Bilkowski, Frank Wild, Adam Wickenheiser, Ben Reiss and Frank Reiss.
