Devalon “Johnny Kaquitts” Powderface beloved husband of Deanne Lynn Powderface (nee Simon) of Calgary, AB, passed away on September 29, 2016 at the age of 40 years.

Mother Georgie Kaquitts showed extreme love and care for Johnny from his birth and brought him home after his fourth day in the hospital and raised him with loving care and affection. Ever a guardian, she was in constant worry and watched carefully over him throughout his life. In his younger years, Johnny was very athletic and was a traditional dancer, was active in rodeo and was well known for his bull fighting skills. He was very musical, being the heart of the family band “Stoney Road”, he was the drummer. Johnny was a traditional drummer and singer who carried forward the songs of his paternal grandparents. Well known as Johnny to many. Humble, kind old soul with much respect to all he came to know.

Johnny is survived by his children, Jaymen Beaver, Stetson Powderface and Doyaltee Begay;Keenan (Raven), Brendal (Joshlynn), Cathaleen, his baby girls Denae, Cree, Sookie, Nikki Sky, Lakota, mother, Georgie Kaquitts; father, Watson Kaquitts (Jenny); siblings, Margaret Bearspaw, Betty Kaquitts, Donna-May Kaquitts, Waylon Kaquitts, Mathew Kaquitts, Harvey Kaquitts, Torin Kaquitts (Ellen), Lawanda (Ian) Kaquitts, Orville Powderface, Deanna (Charles) Wesley, Kim Whitequills (Cory), Justin Kaquitts, Francine Kaquitts (Anthony), Chantel Kaquitts (Bill), Watson Jr. Kaquitts, Chad Kaquitts, Olivia Twoyoungman, Tim (Chantilly), Leonard and Ty (Kyla) Bruised Head, sisters, Geraldine Powderface; brother, Adam North Peigan; aunties and uncles for the following Clans, Kaquitts, Powderface, Stephens, Fox, Twoyoungmen, Mark, Wildman and Wesley; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.

Johnny is predeceased by Norma Powderface, Roderick “Obm” Powderface, Claudine Powderface, Buffy Kaquitts, Ronnie Big Plume; niece, Tiffany Big Crow and mother-in-law, Deborah Big Plume.

Wake Services were held at the family residence (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB) on Monday, October 3 2016. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Georgie Kaquitts (Morley, AB) today, October 4, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Morley Community Gymnasium on Wednesday, October 5 at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).
