POITRAS, Noreen

Noreen Poitras beloved wife of John Poitras of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Noreen was born on August 20, 1933, near Grayson, Saskatchewan. Noreen graduated in 1956, at the Holy Family School of Nursing in Prince Albert and in 1957 as a psychiatric graduate of the Saskatchewan Training School in Moose Jaw. Afterwards she worked at different hospitals and care centers in Calgary until she retired.

Noreen married John Poitras on November 9, 1957 and in November 2018, she and John celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Noreen resided in Calgary and in the summer time at Mabel Lake, British Columbia. She loved spending her summer holidays there.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She took care of her grandchildren, Cameron and Trevor, in their younger years, and continued to help them throughout their lives.

Noreen was an avid curler at the Calgary Winter Club (women’s and mixed teams).

Besides her husband John, Noreen is survived by her children, Colette Faas, Switzerland, André Poitras, Calgary Alberta; grandchildren, Cameron, Calgary and Trevor, Edmonton; and nieces and nephews, Drew, Darcy, Renée, Rachel and their children. Noreen is also survived by her sister-in-law Shelley and her son Gary. Noreen was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Golling; sister Verna Andrews, and brother Dennis Golling. She will be dearly missed by her husband, her family and relatives, friends, neighbors and her friends at Sky Pointe where she has lived for the past year.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
