November 9, 1941 – Cochrane, Alberta
February 1, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Robert (Bob) Perkins beloved husband of Carol Perkins for fifty-two years and loving father to Cameron (Nanette) and Kimberly passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the age of 77. Robert was a devoted husband, dad and grandfather.

He was raised north west of Cochrane where he resided until he was eighteen years old. Nine years after Robert and Carol were married they bought their acreage that was two miles away from where Robert grew up. He had a knack for figuring things out and was able to fix almost anything. When he was at home he was always outside doing something.

Robert worked hard to support his family. Some of the jobs that he had included: the Calgary School Board, opening and operating the Fas Gas in Cochrane, and working for Rockyview school division until he retired at the age of sixty-five.

He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all of them; Austin (Tasha), Lee, Dakota, Morgan, and Tanner. They will always share many happy and fond memories of the amazing man they called “Poppa”.

Robert’s sense of humor, kind heart, and sharp quick wit will always be cherished. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church (128 1st St. E. Cochrane, AB [1]) on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to Friends of Kananaskis Country at www.kananaskis.org/how-to-help/donate/ [2]. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sharma and the staff at Dulcina Hospice, as well to Pauline and the team at Cochrane Community Health. Their kindness and care will never be forgotten.

In living memory of Robert Perkins, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Cochrane, 369 RAILWAY STREET, COCHRANE, AB, T4C 2E2, Telephone: 403-932-4740.

Condolence from Ken Parker on February 15th, 2019 8:32 PM

Carol and family,
I’m so sorry that Bob is gone now from us all and I extend sincere, heartfelt sympathy to each of you. He was a remarkable man with such talents. He was fun to be with, to talk to and joke with – great company. He was always willing and ready to lend a hand on any project where needed because he knew how to do things and get them done. Bob was never afraid of work either.
I consider it an absolute honour to have had the opportunity to work a few years with Bob and then you, Carol, and remain friends all these subsequent years. I can’t believe he is gone. We will miss him terribly. He leaves behind such good memories. He was a very good man – one of the best who meant a lot to me and always will. Take care. Ken

Condolence from Pam and John Davidson on February 23rd, 2019 9:25 AM

Dear Carol and family,
John and I were so sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He was such a great guy with a fabulous sense of humor. We appreciated the time we spent working together at Bow Valley High School. Bob was always ‘perky’ and such a terrific person who made a difference at the school. When we think back to the early days of BVHS, we have many fond memories of early morning chats with Bob, solving a few world problems, and of course, sharing many laughs. He was a quality person and it was an honour and pleasure to know and work with him. Our heartfelt condolences go to you and we hope that beautiful memories of Bob help to sustain you through this difficult time.

Love Dawn
