PAYNE, Lynette Pauline (nee Evans)

May 5, 1950 – Durban, Natal, South Africa
June 3, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness we announce the passing of Lynette Pauline Payne on Monday, June 3, 2019.

Lynette embraced family, friends and life with passion, energy and a generosity of spirit. Her creative soul was expressed through her extraordinary cooking, baking, pottery, decorating, gardening, personal style and so much more. Lynette was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1981. Lynette loved her adopted country, and would often say she was more Canadian than the Canadians. She and her husband spent five years in Singapore and travelled the world extensively. She cherished every minute she spent with her seven grandsons. She loved the time she spent with her various circles of friends and particularly loved the times she spent at Mara Lake. Lynette faced her lengthy twelve-year cancer battle with courage, determination and grace. She was a fierce fighter who never gave up and lived life to the fullest.

Lynette is survived by her husband Boyd Payne, her sons, Garth (Lisa) James and Clinton (Ashley) James; sisters, Florence (Graham) Dyer, Gale (Ernie) Lambert; brother Jim (Des) Evans, grandchildren, Wyatt, Jared and Jesse, Elijah and Grayson, Zach and Carter along with nieces and nephews. Extended family includes Dan (Daylon) Payne, Josh Payne, Cathy (Brett) Anderson. Lynette is predeceased by her mother Natalie and father Jim.

Lynette, you are loved and will be missed.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided after the service. 15. Dear Boyd, just a note to say that the service for Lynette was lovely. Terri and Cathy’s stories brought back fine memories of Lynette’s entertaining, attention to detail, decor and her competitiveness which I especially enjoyed in bridge. It was so nice to see all your grandsons who she was so proud of , now all fine young men. May you and your family find comfort knowing she was loved and will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathy. Lynda and Brian

  16. Dearest Boyd, my sympathy and condolences to you and Lynette’s family. Lynette, was loved by all who met her, I was so fortunate to have Lynette in my Singapore circle of friends; and when we moved to London to have you and Lynette stay with us. When Lynette was first told of her cancer I was devastated, Lynette fought that for so long and I know she wasn’t going to let it beat her or interfere with her enjoying life as best she could. Rest in peace now my friend.
    Love Valerie and David
