June 19, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Verna Paulencu of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 95 years.

Verna is survived by her sons Ed Melnyk, Lenard (Twila) Melnyk, her daughter Grace (Ted) Maciejewski, her grandchildren Neal (May), Ryan, Michele (Cory), Jason, great grandchildren Cierra and Kellan, also her brother John Hupka, and sister Effie Young.

Verna was predeceased by her husband Bill Paulencu, and her daughter-in-law Susan Melnyk.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church (404 Meredith Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church (404 Meredith Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Church. Graveside Service to follow, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Kelowna, B.C. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

    we meet Verna in 1978 shortly after we moved to Kelowna. a very vibrant lady who alway’s had time to make a “Scrumptious” Ukrainian Dinner or Otherwise . we enjoyed several Ukrainian Christmas Eve Supper’s with her and her Kelowna Family wherein she concentrated on having all twelve meatless dish’s – a job well done. may She rest in peace after a life where hard work prevailed and family was most important.
